1) Andalusia, Spain

Known for its sparkling beaches, colorful cuisine and vibrant culture, Spain’s Andalusia region is a locale of fun, adventure and beauty; from the inland’s rolling hills, lush vineyards and Moorish architecture, to the coast’s golden beaches and picturesque villages, Andalusia is the perfect backdrop for your once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

To the north, Seville and Granada are beautiful stops; Seville is famed for its traditional flamenco classes and Granada is home to the enchanting Alhambra Palace as well as the old Arab market quarter. To the south, find the Costa del Sol and its famed sandy beaches, stylish boutiques and fantastic tapas bars. The upscale seaside town of Marbella is particularly luxurious for honeymoon indulgence. It’s the perfect place to unwind, relax and savor your surroundings as well as your love!

If you’re feeling adventurous and have a sweet spot for local charm, take a day trip to one of Andalusia’s White Villages; like doves tucked into the rugged mountainside, these villages are a pure example of Spain’s hidden treasures.

2) The Algarve, Portugal

Famed for its glorious beaches, the Algarve region of Portugal is a destination of pastel sunsets, stunning rock formations and of course, shimmering turquoise waters.

Albufeira is a must if you’re in the Algarve; with its restaurants, nightclubs, beaches and waterfront promenade, you’ll have easy access to amenities that will make your honeymoon relaxing, comfortable and stress-free. If what you’re looking for is a fascinating excursion, take a boat trip or rent a kayak to visit the Benagil Cave close by.

For somewhere a little more remote, try Rota Vicentina for its nature trails (both walking and cycling) in the Vicentina Coast Natural Park or perhaps Odeceixe, which is known for its sandy beaches, surfing and quaint villages. Nature-loving-honeymooners are often found here and truly adore the quiet of their surroundings.

3) Cyclades Islands, Greece

Of course, you know Santorini and Mykonos, but what about the lesser-known Cycladic Islands for your perfect honeymoon? Naxos is the biggest island in the Cyclades and offers everything from beachside lounging (Pyrgaki, Kastraki, Agiassos), to remote mountain villages (Halki, Apiranthos, Filoti). You’ll find hiking trails, boat rentals and plenty of beaches (some public, some private) to fully experience the island!

Paros is known for its typical white stucco villages, golden beaches and natural surroundings. Stroll through olive trees in the remote mountain village of Lefkes, or visit the picturesque churches in the capital, Parikia. For a relaxing day trip, take a quick boat ride over to Antiparos (a small sister island) for a lazy stroll through the main village, a delicious lunch by the clear blue water, or a visit to the Cave of Antiparos if you’re feeling adventurous!

4) Dalmatian Islands, Croatia

Not your typical honeymoon destination, Croatia’s Dalmatian Islands are the hidden gems of the Mediterranean. With 79 islands making up Dalmatia, Korčula and Hvar are the most perfect for a romantic getaway.

Korčula is home to many charming towns, vineyards and scenic overlooks to take in the gorgeous view. The main town, Korčula Town, is often referred to as “Little Dubrovnik” for its resemblance to the larger tourist hot spot; it’s a coastal town with 14th century architecture, red-tiled roofs and amazing views of the Adriatic Sea. If you want to try the famed Grk (a dry white wine that is unique to the island), head east to the town of Lumbarda.

If you’re looking for a honeymoon that is full of dancing until dawn and lounging on glamorous beaches, Hvar is fabulous. Often referred to as the “French Riviera of the East,” Hvar’s main harbor has a lively atmosphere and an active nightlife. During the day, pick any of the beautiful beaches to bask in the sunshine. For an off-the-beaten-path experience, hop right outside of Hvar Town, and you’ll find yourself amidst flowering fields of wild rosemary, lavender and thyme, plus vineyards that make stunningly complex Croatian wines.

5) Tuscany, Italy

It’s hard to imagine a more romantic place in the world than Tuscany. From its enchanting stone villas and cobbled streets to its cypress-dotted countryside, Tuscany’s authentic charm is alluring to all.

With a relaxed way of life, the atmosphere of Italy’s wine country is both exotic as well as familiar. Stroll the small villages at leisure and enjoy the simple things. Decompress with a trip to the vineyards of Chianti or a wine cellar in Montepulciano. Expand your cultural horizons with a cooking class in Siena or venture into Florence to view Michelangelo’s David and watch a skilled craftsman in leather-making.
