Day 1: Departure

Depart the United States on an overnight flight bound for Lisbon, Portugal.

Day 2: Arrival & Lisbon Highlights

Bem vindo a Portugal! Arrive in Lisbon, the second oldest capital city in Europe, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Realign your body by spending your morning at your hotel’s spa before setting out on a private walking tour of Lisbon. You will be guided through the city’s popular districts of Alfama, Baixa, and Chiado, with with stops to try egg tarts and Port wine. After long day, you can keep your night simple by having dinner and drinks at one of your hotel’s four restaurants and bars.

Day 3: Belém District

Today, you will stretch farther across Lisbon on a private tour of the Belém district. Admire the Gothic architecture of the looming Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery, two UNSECO world heritage sites.

Day 4: Sintra & Cascais

Take the opportunity to discover some other treasures of Portugal on a private tour through the small towns of Sintra and Cascais. Go inside the colorful Pena Palace, but not before roaming through luxuriant gardens leading up to the structure. Be sure to stop for a queijada and travesseiro, two delectable pastries the area is wellknown for.

Day 5: Travel to Douro Valley

This morning, set off for the Douro Valley, the region where port wine stems from. Make en route stops in the medieval town of Óbidos, the pilgrimage haven of Fátima, and Portugal’s lively former capital, Coimbra. Spending the evening basking in the serenity of your hotel at the spa or wine library.

Day 6: Douro Valley Wine Tour

Enjoy an array of wines that make this region so beloved on your private tour of the valley. While wine is the obvious focus of this tour, the scenery is equally as stunning, particularly as you wind your way past terraced vineyards along the Douro River.

Day 7: Travel to Porto

Today, you will snake your way back along the Douro River out toward the coast to Portugal’s namesake and second largest city, Porto. You will have the afternoon to yourself, and may choose to rest up at your hotel or wander mere steps away into the historic center of the city.

Day 8: Porto Highlights

Introduce yourself to Porto on a private tour of two of the most popular areas of the city, Foz and Ribeira. Every turn offers a delightful view, from cobblestone streets to colorful walls adorned with wrought-iron balconies. If you still cannot get enough of Portugal’s port wine, never fear, as this tour ends with a tasting at a cellar.

Day 9: Travel to Madrid & Reina Sofia

Bid Portugal goodbye as you depart Lisbon on your flight to Spain. Upon arrival in Madrid, drop your bags at your hotel before making your way to the Reina Sofia Museum. Once a hospital, this grand space now houses galleries full of some of the most famous art in world, including Pablo Picasso’s Guernica.

Day 10: Prado Museum & Historical Madrid

This morning, a private guide will lead you through Madrid’s other most famous museum, El Prado, using their knowledge to bring life to the works of several acclaimed artists, such as Francisco Goya, El Greco, and Diego Velázquez. Afterwards, spend the afternoon getting to know Madrid beyond the museums, visiting major monuments on a private walking tour. Highlights include the National Palace, Almudena Cathedral, and Plaza Mayor.

Day 11: Toledo

Devote your day to private guided day trip to the former capital of Spain, Toledo. Aptly nicknamed “The City of Three Cultures”, it was once simultaneously home to Christians, Jews, and Moors in the Middle Ages. Evidence of this is still quite prevalent in the overlapping architecture, especially in the city’s various cathedrals, synagogues, and mosques. On the way back to Madrid, you will stop to see one of the twelve windmills that Don Quixote tried to fight in the book written by Miguel de Cervantes.

Day 12: Travel to Seville

Watch the Spanish countryside roll by on your luxury train ride to Seville, complete with refreshments and an entertainment system. Upon arrival, you will have the rest of the day to yourself, with which you may choose to watch the sunset from your hotel’s rooftop terrace, complete with pool and bar.

Day 13: Seville Highlights & Flamenco

Go inside of some of Seville’s main attractions on your morning private walking tour of the city, such as the Cathedral of Seville, Giralda bell tower, and Royal Alcazar Palace. Use your afternoon to explore the magnificent Plaza de España before spending your night immersed in the pinnacle of traditional performing arts in Spain by seeing a flamenco show.

Day 14: Cordoba

Set off on a private guided day trip of another Andalusian gem, Cordoba. Pass medieval marvels and white-washed squares on your way toward the Guadalquivir River. Continue on to the Mezquita-Catedral, a towering structure globally recognized by its red-andwhite striped arches.

Day 15: Travel to Barcelona

Board your luxury train to the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona. Catalonia is a unique autonomous community of Spain that is very proud of its own history, culture, and language, evident by the many red, yellow, and blue flags throughout the city. You have the afternoon to yourself, and you may choose to spend it observing one of the best views of Barcelona from the roof of your hotel or roaming the Passeig de Gràcia that lies just outside of the lobby.

Day 16: Barcelona Highlights

This morning,your private walking tour will start in the Roman and Medieval areas of the Barri Gòtic, the Born, and Port Vell. Then you will travel through time to see the exteriors of buildings from the Modernisme era, including La Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, and Casa Batlló. This evening, you will change gears from learning about history and architecture to learning about food and wine on a private tapas tasting tour.

Day 17: La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell & Picasso Museum

Today, you will venture inside the behemoth church you saw yesterday, La Sagrada Familia. This hallmark of famous architect Antoni Gaudí has been under under construction for over a century. And while it is still under construction, that absolutely does not take away from the stunning beauty of its intricate pillars and stained glass windows. From there, you will head to another Gaudi masterpiece, Park Güell, know for its bright and colorful tiles. Finish at a museum dedicated to the works of another Spanish mastermind, Pablo Picasso.

Day 18: Priorat

You will almost feel like you are back in the Douro Valley when you witness the sloped vineyards on a private day trip of the Priorat wine region. No tour of a wine region would be complete without a tasting, and you will visit a local winery for samples of the full-bodied reds that Priorat is renowned for.

Day 19: Departure

Say farewell to Spain as you head to the airport for your flight back to the United States.
